Coming Soon: The Ogden Island Lake Cottage
The Project
This is not just a lake cottage, it's where I grew up and have all of my best memories. This little corner of Indiana has been my family's gathering place for as long as I can remember. My grandparents have owned the cottage next door for over sixty years, so renovating ours felt as personal as it gets. The scope: a primary bathroom, my personal bathroom, my bedroom, and the family loft, aka the spaces that needed the most love. All of it overlooking the lake that has always felt like home.
The Inspo
The north star here was the lake views, the cottage's existing character, and the nostalgia woven into every corner of this property. As new builds multiply along the shoreline, leaning into the age and charm that makes this cottage special felt more important than ever. Vintage pieces, bold wallpaper, natural materials, and cottage details like beadboard kept everything grounded and true. My personal bathroom is the standout with classic cottage wallpaper, moody tile, a marble vanity top, and a vintage medicine cabinet from a lakeside garage sale. Proof that the best finds are sometimes just down the road.
The Client
In this case, the client is my family, the people I love most and the place that made me who I am. Lazy days on the pier, sunset boat cruises, big family dinners, late night euchre games, and the kind of slow, easy living that only a lake cottage can offer. This renovation was as personal as it gets, and every decision was made with intention: to honor the past, update the present, and make sure this cottage is loved for generations to come.
